Patrick Groth was a student of FAU Nuremberg Erlangen who got certified for the Celonis Process Mining Expert during his studies. Through Celonis Academic Alliance’s program, he and his two co-founders made their path to start their own company: Apolix. Let’s see what he has to say about careers in Process Mining!
How did you first get in touch with Process Mining?
During my studies, I participated in Celonis' Process Mining Expert Track, now known as the Process Mining Consulting Bootcamp. The program focused on educating students and aspiring consultants about Process Mining tools. Here I quickly grasped the potential of it and it led me to join the Deloitte Centre for Process Bionics as an intern to further explore the technology.
After significant success without much process mining experience, it just felt right. I was inspired to then establish my own consulting firm, Logatik, specializing in Celonis Process Mining across the entire supply chain. Two years later, we're a Celonis Gold Partner with a growing team, delivering Process Mining solutions to SMEs.
What skills do you think are vital to work in process mining?
A diverse skill set is essential to excel in process mining. This includes a strong foundation in data engineering and data analytics, but not of less importance are problem-solving skills and effective storytelling. I believe that combining technical expertise and communication skills is key to successfully working in process mining.
What opportunities does learning process mining open for students
Learning process mining offers students a fantastic opportunity to build a strong foundation for many career paths. As a rapidly evolving field, it provides exposure to cutting-edge technology and helps develop high-demand skills across multiple industries. Regardless of the career path, process mining is an excellent starting point for a dynamic and fulfilling career.
